I did 11 Logo examples for a Freind, I doing his whole Grafikdesignwork as well as website, and we are just in the way doing the logo.
He will open Up a café / Bar here, and we will do a lot of culture stuff as well. It will Namened "Leben!" Means Life!
So we were thinking what life is about, had serveral Ideas,
so I used Sunsign, Watersign, and the smallest element of all life the Atom...
The native Paintig Style is an Option and Whish, since the Type for the Leben is soft as well - and life isn´t straight anyway...
So I would love to read what you prefere in the first moment,
what you didn´t like as well.

I like the Sunsings for my sef the best, I really never did Logos wich are not Straight but the owners decided to have that scrably Type, and somehow Straight clear logos seem a little strange...
If somebody has a clear Idea about a signifigant Sign of LIFE,
I would Love some more Inspiration....
It´s hard doing for me Logos if I am too much connectet with the Projekt & People. Somehow I never feel well with anything.
Would love to invite you for a beer, if you ever come to Germany in the north to our pretty hamburg, drop me a line... Since than the Logo will be finished ;-)

i prefer the sun and water, too, but they are slightly overused, at least here in the states. maybe you could take your thinking with them to the next level; consider another way to illustrate what's good and life giving about the sun and water.
to me, they are images that are too obviously symbolic but not offering as clever a meaning as you want. play with it some more.
i know that by showing it off here, you're looking for something special for your friend. i know you will provide it, too.

The nuclear option speaks to me of the end of life.
